The first secretary to Australian High Commissioner Mr. Kerry Grooves visited Dhemaji on 14th March, 2004 to review the DRM programme at the District. He was accompanied by Mr. Sanjoy Bandhopadhyay, Regional Chief UNDP, Mr. Chandra Bhusan Kumar, IAS, DRM Consultant, NEC and Mr. R. Majumdar, SPO, Assam. They had a meeting with all line departments officials and NGO partners at the Circuit House on 14th evening. The meeting was headed by The Deputy Commissioner, Dhemaji, Mr. Swapnanil Barua who highlighted several problems & issues related to flood problem. He also presented some proposals and suggestions for long term mitigation of the flood problem.

 

                On 15/03/2004 the team visited Samarajan G. P. to observe the village plan at Hechuli village. The team was accompanied by Mr. D. Hazarika, ADC, Dhemaji. Mr. Kerry Grooves actively interacted with the villagers at Hechuli and observe the village task force formation and village plan initiated by the D.P.O., Dhemaji Mr. Joydeep Choudhary.
