The Deputy Commissioner has to designate one or two officers as Nodal Officer to carry out the DRM activities in the district. UNDP will provide one technical human resource District Project Officer, for smooth implementation of the programme. DPO is responsible for preparation of disaster preparedness and mitigation plan, training of Master Trainers, facilitate training of Disaster Management Committees and Disaster Management Teams.

Role of Panchayati Raj Institution's in Disaster Management

1) They should help in all the training activities that are to be carried out at the District Block and GP level.

2) The PRI members should see it that the plan prepared is linked up with the development programme taken by the Government.

3) Mock drills and updating of the data should be made in regular intervals.
